Bondville Fair 2025 – Cake & Pie Contest Rules
Welcome to the Bondville Fair! We are thrilled to celebrate the art of baking with our annual Pie Contest, and we are equally excited to announce that we will be adding a Cake Contest! Whether you're a seasoned pro or a first-time contestant, we encourage bakers of all levels to join us for a fun and friendly competition. Please read through the following rules to ensure your entry meets the contest guidelines.
General Contest Rules
Eligibility:
Professional Category: Open to anyone who earns income from baking (e.g., bakery owners, professional cake decorators, and individuals who sell cakes/pies).
Amateur Category: Open to hobbyists and home bakers who do not earn income from baking.
Registration:
All participants must register beforehand. Please register by clicking the button above.
Entry Limit:
Each contestant may submit up to two cakes and two pies for judging.
Baked Goods:
Entries must be homemade and prepared from scratch (no store-bought mixes or pre-made fillings).
All entries must be presented on a non-returnable plate or board.
Cakes should be a full-size cake (6” or greater), not a portion or slice.
Pies should be a full-size pie (8” or greater in diameter).
Presentation:
Entries will be judged not only on taste and texture but also on overall appearance and creativity.
Decorated cakes and pies are encouraged, but they must still meet the basic baking criteria.
Ingredients List:
Participants must provide a list of ingredients for their entries. This is required in case of food allergies or sensitivities.
Delivery Time:
Cakes and pies must be delivered to the contest area by 10am, Friday, August 22nd. Late entries will not be judged.
All baked goods should be served at room temperature (no hot or frozen pies / cakes).
Judging Criteria:
Taste (50%): Flavor and balance of ingredients.
Texture (25%): Consistency and overall mouthfeel of the cake or pie.
Presentation (15%): Visual appeal, creativity, and decoration.
Originality (10%): Unique flavor combinations, decoration style, or new techniques.
Professional Category Rules
Professional bakers will compete against other professionals in this category.
Entries will be judged with a focus on advanced techniques, elevated flavor combinations, and elegant presentation.
Amateur Category Rules
Amateur bakers should demonstrate home-style baking techniques.
Professional-level decoration or ingredients are not required, but creativity and attention to detail will be rewarded.
